2017 CPA Exam Medal Winners

The MSCPA Awards, Education and Scholarships Committee has notified winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from the 2017 CPA Exam.

These awards honor those who attained the highest scores in passing all parts of the exam taken for the first time in one sitting during 2017. Winners will be recognized during the MSCPA Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, June 23 at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

Medal winners from 2017 include:

The Fred T. Neely Gold Medal: Joseph A. Rebentisch

Joseph Rebentisch of Tupelo graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi with both a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Master of Accountancy. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and received a Taylor Medal, the university's highest academic honor. He also held leadership positions in multiple organizations including Student Alumni Council, Lambda Sigma Honor Society, and Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity and also served as Patterson School of Accountancy Student Body President. He has worked multiple summers at Camp Ozark, and completed an internship with Deloitte's Forensics & Investigations group in Dallas, Texas. He began as a Consultant in Deloitte's Forensics and Investigations practice in Dallas the fall of 2017.

The T.E. Lott Silver Medal: Reagan H. Stovall

Reagan Stovall of Long Beach graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi with both a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Master of Taxation. She is also a graduate of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. While at Ole Miss, she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Alpha Psi, Gamma Beta Phi, and Order of Omega honor societies. She also held leadership positions including Treasurer of Phi Mu Fraternity, Director of Finance for RebelTHON Dance Marathon benefiting Children's Miracle Network, and was a MoneyThink Student Teacher promoting financial literacy among high school students. She also attended Ole Miss’ PULSE Leadership Conference and won PwC’s Campus Challenge Case Competition and Target’s Campus Grants Case Competition. Regan completed an internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Assurance group in New Orleans, Louisiana and began as an Assurance Associate in September of 2017.

The Silas M. Simmons Bronze Medal: Harrison K. Edwards

Harrison Edwards of Oxford graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi with both a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Master of Accountancy. While at Ole Miss, he was involved with activities and societies including Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Phi, Financial Executives International Scholar, and was Student Activities Association Member of the Year. In 2015, he completed an associate auditor internship with FedEx and later worked as an audit associate with BKD in Jackson. Harrison now works as an Accountant and Data Manager for SPOT Tracker, LLC in Columbia. He is also an active member of the MSCPA and was recently elected to serve on the MSCPA Young CPA Network Board for the coming year.
