MSCPA Names 2023-2024 Officers
The Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (MSCPA) elected Jerry Goolsby as Chairman of the Board of Governors. The announcement was made during the MSCPA Annual Business Meeting on June 24, 2023.
Goolsby, a respected professional in the field of accounting, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his new role as Chairman. Prior to his retirement at the end of May, Goolsby was an assurance partner with FORVIS in Jackson where he led FORVIS’ Mississippi commercial services practice.
Goolsby’s career in public accounting began in 1991 when he joined Smith, Turner & Reeves. In 2008, the firm merged with BKD, now known as FORVIS. His expertise spans various industries, including manufacturing, distribution, construction, and telecommunications. Goolsby is a native of Falkner, MS, and a 1987 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he has remained deeply involved. He currently serves on the Advisory Council for the School of Accountancy and has previously held the position of chair.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Goolsby is a longstanding and active member of the MSCPA. He has served in various capacities, including Treasurer and positions on the Board of Governors and Executive Committee. Goolsby has also held the roles of President and Vice-President of Programs for the Central Chapter. He currently serves on the Legislative Committee and the Long-Range Planning Committee which he previously chaired.
Beyond his professional and MSCPA commitments, Goolsby has made significant contributions to his community. He has served as Chairman of the Metropolitan Jackson YMCA and as Treasurer of Friends of Children’s Hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Goolsby is also a graduate of both Leadership Rankin and Mississippi Economic Council’s Leadership Mississippi. He is a dedicated member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Ridgeland, where he has held positions as Chairman of the Elders and Finance Committee and currently teaches a young couples class. He resides in Canton with his wife, Vicky, and they have two grown sons.
Goolsby’s term as MSCPA Chairman of the Board of Governors is for one year. He replaces Scott Christian who is a member with The Gillon Group, PLLC in Natchez.

- Secretary: Julia Jesuit, Partner, Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLP, Ridgeland
- Treasurer: Chase Farmer, Manager, Nail McKinney, P.A., Tupelo
