The session, will provide an update to the AICPA standards (audit, review, compilation, attestation, quality management, ethics) and will also cover a high-level update of the FASB standards.  The update will also include some accounting frameworks other than GAAP that practitioners and businesses might consider when GAAP might be too complex.

1:00pm - 2:30pm
$0.00

This session will provide a review of the provisions of the SECURE Act 2.0 that relate to retirement plans.  Businesses have many more options to choose from, and there are a wealth of tax credits designed to encourage businesses to help employees save for retirement.  Learn which provisions should be enacted, and which might be better off ignored!

2:40pm - 4:30pm
$0.00

This session will review accounting for Interest Rate Swaps, which are likely to be used more often as rates drop.  Many businesses don’t understand the accounting requirements, and can end up getting accounting results that don’t match the economic reality of the instruments they enter into.   Impairment Accounting is another area which is often misunderstood, as most companies (and their auditors) don’t see this every day.  Finally, we will review internal control scenarios common in small business environments, and evaluate them from both a management view and an auditor view.  Round table discussions will help us understand how to best mitigate common internal control deficiencies.
