This seminar is devoted to the Big Picture. Most accountants get bogged down in the debits, the credits and the minutia of the day to day issues of our organization. Having a fresh perspective on the world, your organization and you can maximize your perspective and career. The following items will be discussed: Review of mega trends, big data and why they matter, Discussion of strategic planning down to the numbers, The why of ethics and understanding you and them, and Communicating numbers in a world or words. This session will specifically address these issues from the perspective of both the for profit and not for profit organizations.

Bob Mims

Bob Mims

Bob Mims, CPA is a financial consultant and VP of finance for promising enterprises. For 20 years, Bob has worked with numerous startup ventures and nonprofits in the roles of strategic planning, business modeling, controller and CFO. His focus is understanding the fundamentals of profitability. Bob worked for 19 years as the controller and director of investments for Ducks Unlimited, Inc. He was also the CFO of DU’s sister organization, Wetlands America Trust. Bob began his career with KPMG as a senior assurance manager in the financial services field. Bob was the primary recruiter and local office training coordinator for the Memphis, Tennessee and Jackson, Mississippi offices. Bob also was extensively involved in KPMG training, earning National Instructor of the Year honors on three occasions. He has chaired the Not-for-Profit conference for the AICPA and has served on the Environmental Roundtable, the Not-for-Profit Advisory Council of FASB, and was appointed to FASAC.
