CPE Topic: CPA Evolution - Proposed New CPA Exam Model

The CPA Evolution initiative is a joint effort of the AICPA and National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). The initiative aims to transform the CPA licensure model to recognize the rapidly changing skills and competencies the practice of accounting requires today and will continue to require in the future. Feedback has been received from more than 2,000 stakeholders, including State Boards and the MSCPA along with other state societies, and the academic community, which emphasizes that CPA licensure should be built around a strong core of accounting, auditing, tax and technology and that while greater technological and analytical skills should be required for licensure, there are other factors disrupting the profession as well. Changes should ensure the CPA license remains fit for purpose to assure continued public protection. This session will explore the proposed model and will allow attendees to voice their feedback on the significant overhaul of the CPA exam.
