Links to the e-materials will be listed with your course registration in your account on the MSCPA website seven calendar days before the course. You will receive an e-mail when the materials are available.
The option to request printed materials is only available up to 5 business days prior to the course date. Walk-in registrants and those registering between 1 and 5 days before the course will be sent an electronic link to the e-materials by default. “Extra” printed course materials will not be available on site. Printed materials are not available for conferences.
Rick J. Bobos is Vice President, BPCI-A Partnerships at New Century Health, a part of Evolent Health. Rick helps lead the BPCI-A team with a particular focus on designing partnerships solutions that support physicians and health systems’ participation and performance in CMS’ BPCI-A program. He currently is the organizational lead for Clinical Integration Design ("CIN") and optimization and has completed the build of 10 CINs since 2013.
Mr. Bobos has over 12 years of provider operations experience, including the redesign of incentive models, practice operations, and physician engagement. Prior to joining New Century/Evolent Health, Mr. Bobos managed clinical integration and population health at Advocate Health Care and Franciscan Physicians Alliance. Mr. Bobos has extensive experience delivering outcomes based care strategies in community and academic-based systems.
Vanessa B. Claiborne
Ms. Claiborne has been with Chaffe & Associates, Inc. since 1987 and was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer in 2009. She also serves as the Managing Director for the Valuation Advisory group. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuations (ABV) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has received her designation as an Accredit Senior Appraiser (ASA) by the American Society of Appraisers. She holds Securities Licenses 79, 24, 27, and 63. Ms. Claiborne is Accredited in Estate Planning by the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor by the Exit Planning Institute.
Ms. Claiborne specializes in business valuation services primarily for estate, gift, and income taxes, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), GAAP fair value reporting, financial reporting, corporate planning, litigation support including expert testimony, exit planning, and shareholder transactions and restructuring.
Chris Cothern, MS, LPC-S, LMFT, SAP has many years of experience in mental health services. He earned his Masters of Science in marriage and family therapy from Mississippi College in 1994. He became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 1996 and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 1998. Additionally, Chris has enhanced his credentials by becoming a Board Qualified LPC Supervisor for the State of Mississippi and a Substance Abuse Professional.
Counseling, for Chris, is a calling and he enjoys working with individuals, couples, parents and families. He has gained vast experience in assisting individuals facing emotional and psychological challenges. He believes that his role is to meet individuals where they are, identify support systems, encourage, motivate, educate and assist in their development of coping skills that will alleviate current struggles but also provide skills to enhance their future. Areas of particular interests include: working with adolescent and young adults dealing with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief and loss, anger, anxiety, low motivation and difficulty managing stress.
Prior to beginning his work at MEA Cares, Chris worked as the Director of Child & Adolescent Services and the Director of Staff Development & Training for a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program and as a Regional Director for a national health management corporation.
James M. Nester
Michael is the Administrator at H. C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital that provides a wide range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services and is a division of Rush Health Systems, the largest, most diverse medical system in East Mississippi and West Alabama. He is also a member of the Mississippi Rural Hospital Alliance.
Richard Roberson is General Counsel and Vice President of Policy and State Advocacy for the Mississippi Hospital Association. Prior to joining MHA, Richard practiced healthcare law and government relations in the Jackson, Mississippi office of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings. His healthcare practice primarily focused on Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, certificate of need and other regulatory and audit issues for a variety of healthcare clients including hospitals, physicians, dentists, pharmacies, physical therapists, hospice and nursing homes. Before entering private practice, he spent over fifteen years in state government, most of which were spent at the Mississippi Division of Medicaid. He received his B.A. from Baylor University and his J.D. from the University of Mississippi.
Drew Snyder is the Executive Director of the Division of Medicaid. In this role, Snyder administers Mississippi’s Medicaid program, subject to state and federal laws and regulations and policies as approved by the Governor. Snyder joins the Division of Medicaid having served in several public sector leadership roles, including most recently as Deputy Chief of Staff, Policy Director, and Legal Counsel for Governor Phil Bryant. Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, Snyder was as an Assistant Secretary of State for Delbert Hosemann. Snyder serves on the Mississippi Public Employees’ Retirement System Board of Trustees and chairs the Business Law Section of the Mississippi Bar. He was the non-legislative member of the Legislative Tax Reform Working Group. He also is a member of the Uniform Law Commission. Before entering the public sector, Snyder practiced law at Hollingsworth LLP in Washington D.C., specializing in complex and multi-district litigation, with a focus on pharmaceutical and medical device matters. A native of Eupora, Snyder received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and a juris doctorate from University of Virginia School of Law.
James W. Wadlington
Mr. Wadlington serves as Vice President for the company. He started with Vintage in 2017, after spending 10 years with a regional public accounting firm as a healthcare reimbursement consultant. Jim’s prior experience includes preparation of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, in addition to assisting with reimbursement audits for hospitals. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from Millsaps College. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant in Mississippi and a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, where he served as President of the Mississippi Chapter during 2016-2017.
