Thomas S. Adams

Scott has twelve years of experience in public accounting, all of which include providing accounting and auditing services to financial institutions. In addition, he has experience with performing interest rate risk reviews, liquidity and funds management reviews, loan reviews, and various internal audit functions for financial institutions.
He is a member of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (LCPA), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the MSCPA Banking and Finance Committee. He is a past committee member and past Chairman of the MSCPA Governmental Accounting and Auditing Conference and served on the MSCPA Young CPA Network Board of Directors.

Dudley Carter

Dudley Carter

Dudley Carter is an Economist for Vining Sparks, a fixed income broker/dealer serving institutional investors. Dudley writes daily commentary covering U.S. and foreign economic developments, as well as the U.S. and global financial markets. He also assists with the projection and publication of Vining Sparks’ economic and interest rate forecasts and contributes to research articles for Vining Sparks. Dudley is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Tennessee and member of the Tennessee Society for Certified Public Accountants. Prior to joining Vining Sparks, Dudley was an audit manager at KPMG LLP, with a focus on the financial services sector. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Master’s degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics.

Ben Cayson

Ben graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.B.A in 2008 where he majored in Banking and Finance. He is also a Graduate of the School of Banking at LSU and currently attending the ABA Trust School. Ben has been a Bank Examiner with the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance for the past 8 years. In his role as a Bank Examiner, he has served in various capacities of the Safety and Soundness examination process including leading examinations, loan review, operations, asset-liability management, trust, and information technology. Prior to joining the department, he worked for SunTrust Bank in retail banking for 3 years.

Mike DeLisle

For over a decade, Mike DeLisle has helped FTN Financial customers manage the A/L process by developing strategies for improving rate sensitivity. Given current interagency guidance, a significant amount of Mike’s time is spent presenting to boards and executive committees for the purpose of training and overall A/L process management. The overall goal is to accurately measure, monitor, and manage interest rate risk. Prior to joining the ALM Advisors group, Mike served in a series of roles for First Tennessee National Bank, including Small Business Deposit Product Manager, Risk Management Officer, and Bank Risk Management Analyst. Through these roles, he was able to build and maintain various models bridging the gap between informative analytics and profitable application. He has also served as a financial analyst at a global information technology equipment and services company.

Bailey Hartel

Bailey was born and raised in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He graduated from Southern Mississippi with an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration in December 2007, and a Masters in Business Administration in March 2009. He is also a Graduate of the School of Banking at LSU and the ABA Trust School. He has been with the department for 10.5 years. During his tenure, he has dealt with a host of accounting and trust compliance issues, and has held numerous Examiner-In-Charge, loan review, operations, and capital markets roles.

Johnny Sanders

Johnny has more than 25 years of information technology (IT) experience. The majority of his experience was acquired during active duty in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a network and system administrator across multiple platforms as well as an information security officer. He focuses on cybersecurity, IT audits, system security, policy, procedure, and business continuity/disaster recovery reviews, as well as regulatory compliance testing for financial institutions, institutions of higher learning, public and private companies. Before joining BKD, Johnny was senior engineer for a large IT company that managed a sizable international project for the Department of Defense. In addition to administering network security, loadbalancing devices and multiple physical and virtual servers, he was responsible for system audits, security and network accreditation. He also served as the chief operating officer for a regional broadband development company where he directly managed all installation and IT personnel, as well as overseeing network security and product development. Johnny also taught basic and advanced network design, network security and routing administration for Cisco Networking Academy at Arkansas State University. He holds Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM®), Certified Information Systems Auditor® (CISA®) and CompTIA Security+ certifications.

David Shoemaker

David Shoemaker has assisted hundreds of banks with the design and implementation of nonqualified benefit and BOLI plans. He has30 years of experience in the insurance and banking industry and was a pioneer of the single premium no-load insurance policy now known as BOLI. He has authored articles for numerous trade journals and has spoken at many local, state, and national educational symposiums. Hisprior experience includes nine years with Deloitte Touche, where he focused on the banking industry. David graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee.

James Taylor

James Taylor brings over 30 years of experience working in the financial services industry. For the past 17 years James has consulted with financial institution clients on the implementation of Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) programs and nonqualified executive and director benefit plans. He served 23 years with First Horizon National Corporation and its’ subsidiaries First Tennessee Bank, N.A. and FTN Financial (FTN). At FTN James was a Senior Vice President of the Strategic Financial Group (2002-2008) where he assisted management and the board of directors of many financial institutions nationwide in their understanding and evaluation of BOLI and supplemental executive retirement plans. James also served as a member of the First Horizon National Corporation’s BOLI Committee. He served as a correspondent banker for 12 years.

Mike Thomas

Mike Thomas is a Partner in Crowe LLP’s Financial Institution Risk Consulting practice in the Southeastern United States. He has over forty years of broad-based experience, specializing in the financial services industry. Mike’s responsibilities include advising clients in areas such as risk management, fraud prevention and quality assurance assessments. He is a Distinguished Faculty Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, an Adjunct Faculty Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and has been an instructor for the Bank Administration Institute, the Financial Manager’s Society, the Credit Union National Association, the America Bankers Association and the Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Missouri and Florida Banker’s Associations. Mike is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (including the Georgia Society) and the Bank Administration Institute. Mike holds a BBA degree in Accounting from Columbus State University and is a graduate of the Bank Administration Institute’s School for Bank Administration (Internal Audit Management).
