Leaders

Robert H. Alexander

Robert is the director of fraud, forensic and litigation services for HORNE LLP. He specializes in forensic accounting, including economic damages – lost profits, loss of business value, economic analysis, business valuation and fraud consultation. He currently serves on HORNE’s Board of Directors and the technology steering committee.

Robert joined HORNE in 1994 after spending 10 years in Memphis with an international accounting firm. He has extensive experience with litigation and expert testimony and has testified as a financial, accounting, economic damages and business valuation expert in numerous state and federal courts.

Robert is an Accredited Senior Appraiser and is Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the states of Mississippi and Tennessee and is a graduate of the University of Mississippi.

Jeffrey Barber

Jeff Barber is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. He focuses on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. Jeff regularly represents clients in bankruptcy proceedings and assists them in restructurings. He has served as an adjunct professor of Debtor-Creditor Law at the Mississippi College School of Law and is the author of several published works. Jeff lectures frequently on bankruptcy and creditors' rights matters. At Jones Walker, Jeff serves as head of the Mississippi office.

Annette P. Herrin

Annette Herrin, CPA has been with TMH for 10 years. She is a Hattiesburg native, who attended the University of Southern, Mississippi. She primarily works in forensic accounting and is fascinated with the different types of businesses that exist throughout the state. She finds that the common thread amongst entrepreneurs of all ages is the drive to take a risk and succeed. Besides forensics, Annette’s skillset includes taxes, business appraisals, damage calculation and other litigation work; but, as she says, it continues to evolve. TMH CPAs and Consulting Firm began more than forty years ago and serves clients around the country. With offices in Hattiesburg, Gulfport, and Columbia, clients have access to experience for a wide range of TMH services.

Joseph E. Hines

Joey was born and raised in Tchula, Mississippi and is a 1978 graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting. After graduation, he accepted a position with Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Jackson, Mississippi and worked in the bank’s management training program for two years. He joined Tann, Brown & Russ Co., PLLC as a staff accountant in 1980 and became a partner in 1990. As an audit partner with the Firm, Joey’s clients have included, among others, construction contractors, multi-family housing projects, retirement communities, nonprofit organizations, and various government agencies and entities at both the state and local levels. Additionally, he manages the Firm’s GAAP Packet practice under which accounting assistance and financial reporting is regularly provided to various state agencies throughout the State of Mississippi. Joey currently serves as partner in charge of the Firm’s litigation and forensic accounting services practice. He has published multiple articles in the Mississippi Society of CPAs monthly publication, “The CPA Newsletter”, and has served as a speaker on forensic accounting topics at conferences and seminars in Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana and Florida. He has handled over 300 litigation support and insurance claims engagements in such areas as lost profits, business interruption, personal injury and wrongful death, wrongful termination, family law, employee fraud and financial motive in civil arson, and he has testified as an expert witness in Chancery and Circuit Courts in Mississippi, in Parish Judicial District Court in Louisiana, and in U.S. District Courts for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi. Additionally, he has been a member of the MSCPA’s Business Valuation & Litigation Services Committee since 2003, including serving as committee chairman from 2012 to 2014. Joey is active in community organizations, having served for a number of years as a volunteer Boy Scout leader and a tournament team fast pitch softball coach. As an active church member, he has served as both treasurer and finance committee chairman. He is also a past president and treasurer of the Madison the City Chamber of Commerce and recently completed his third term as a member of the Chamber’s board of directors.

Jonathan M. Legner

Jon is an assurance services manager at HORNE LLP. He specializes in auditing for public and middle market clients by identifying and correcting control risks, errors and omissions from financial statements. Jon is also a leader in using data analytics to gain valuable insights for his clients. Jon joined HORNE in 2011. Jon earned his Bachelor of Accountancy and Master of Professional Accountancy from Mississippi State University.

Edward T. Simmons

Ed Simmons is the CFO of Benefit Administration Services, Ltd. as well as the Acuity Group, which provide employee benefits solutions and third party administration of health and benefit plans. Ed graduated from Miss. State University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and earned an MBA from the University of Alabama. He performed business valuation and litigation support work during his time at Horne LLP and The Koerber Company.
