LIVESTREAM - In this course we cover special tax rules and tax accounting methods pertaining to agricultural and farming activities and recent tax law changes that affect farmers. The content includes changes made by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Some of the topics covered are: Depreciation methods for farmers, Accounting methods and revenue recognition, Farm averaging, Hobby loss protection, Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions applied to farmers. This is a specialized course designed for the CPA who has sole-proprietor farm clients and/or pass-through-entity farm clients. We will cover the new pass-through deduction, interest limitations, pass-through loss limitations, and net operating loss deductions as applied to farmers under the TCJA.

Michael A. Frost

Mike Frost, CPA is an associate and shareholder of MDA Professional Group, P.C. and has been with the Albertville office since 1989. Currently a tax partner, Mike specializes in all areas of income tax and small business consulting. Mike is a specialist in the taxation of religious workers and religious organizations. He also is an avid public speaker and is available for speaking engagements and seminars.

Mike graduated with "high honors and distinction" from Jacksonville State University with a major in accounting and a minor in finance and a 4.0 GPA. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Accountants Global Network, International. In addition, he is a graduate of the Tax Planning and Advising for Closely Held Businesses Certificate of Educational Achievement Program sponsored by the AICPA.

Mike is an ordained minister and has served in many churches on and around Sand Mountain. He is active in outreach and music ministry and works with alcohol and drug recovery groups in Marshall County, Alabama. Mike resides in Albertville, Alabama with his wife, Kay, and two children, Dylan and Sarah.
